A WOMEX ACADEMY workshop & mentoring @ Music Showcase of Greece, Thessaloniki, 22-25 Nov 2018
In this 90 minutes workshop, the participants will receive practical information and tips on managing professional activities abroad and on how to participate and promote their activities in all types of international professional music meetings. The workshop will be conducted in English.
In the two additional hours of mentoring there will be an opportunity for eight selected participants for questions & answers on a one-to-one basis. This will be on first come first served basis, so it is advised to make your reservation as soon as possible. Language of communication will be English.
Workshop & mentoring is open for all kinds of players in the musical field, from producers, managers, promoters, label to artists etc. Both will be guided by Christoph Borkowsky, President of Piranha Arts , and Dimitra Zina, Co-Head of Communications, on basis of their long-term WOMEX know-how as well as participation in many music conferences around the globe.
WOMEX (World Music Expo) is a networking platform for 2.600 professionals from more than 90 countries each year, including trade fair, conference, film screenings and a showcase festival for the global underground. The musical diversity ranges from traditional music to the latest productions of electronic music. The event travels around in Europe. Ιn 2012 it was held in Thessaloniki, the 2018 stop-over is staged in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria in Spain, 24-28 October 2018.
The WOMEX Academy is a WOMEX initiative which aims to accompany music professionals who wish to strengthen their skills on international markets and circuits. The “Go International!” workshop is an introduction to the extended weekend version.

The OG founding members are not unknown in Thessaloniki, either. After the WOMEX’s 2012 edition in Thessaloniki, all of these founding members were active on site, participating with various events, projects and cooperations, whether on a political, consulting, event management or creative level.
