Christoph Borkowsky

Action anthropologist, Co-Founder and President of Piranha Arts, made in Berlin since 1987. The company combines music & tech to increase the value of crossing borders, be they cultural, political or commercial. International networking platforms like WOMEX and Classical:NEXT, as well as Piranha Consult, Piranha Records and other branches are all part of the Piranha Arts portfolio.

During his career he curated the groundbreaking HeimatKlänge Festival in the Tempodrom Berlin to introduce “Home sounds from home planet earth”, started the WOMEX and Classical:NEXT music conferences, and directed Piranha Records & Publishing, with more than 150 album releases to date. He initiated Bands United, Clubs United and Fête de la Musique in Berlin, headed the jury of the local Karneval der Kulturen and served as founding board member of the Berlin Music Commission – a local music industry cluster of labels, clubs, music publishers and event producers. In 2008, he received the “German world music Oscar”, the Ehren-RUTH.
