Music Showcase Greece 3 – Voices for the next day of the music industry

During the most doubtful period for culture and creative industry the voices of people who strive to keep the music production alive seem to be more crucial than ever before.

Music Showcase Greece 3 is in its third year and comes back with a really special attempt.“Sound On” project opens a conversation with music producers, artistic directors from different festivals, international guests and several culture/music industry entities. Main topic is the new environment formed by the COVID-19 pandemic regarding the music industry and the show market, as well as all the changes in the way we socially perceive and experience entertainment.

On this year’s Music Showcase Greece 3 music industry comes across new existential concerns. Issues that will feed our panels are not only the pandemic impact and the strict safety guidelines that drastically affect the cultural production, but also the live audience’s absence which rapidly changes the whole entertainment experience.

Additionally, the agenda will touch upon the governmental support of all art/music professionals during the current crisis, the copyright protection in the “remote” era, the digital transformation happening in the creative industry and also the possibilities of building new audiences in times when all live events are constantly put on hold.

In general, this year’s Music Showcase Greece 3 explores brand new possibilities and constraints for music, as it is called to be present in a place of sweeping fear, insecurity and social distancing.

“Sound On” project offers two music suggestions that promote the unique nature of Greek music production; Tendts and Transparent Man show their own path through a live set which praises the contemporary sound.

We are honoured to welcome as presenters the Vice Mayor for Cultural Affairs of Thessaloniki, the President of Thessaloniki Municipality Cultural Centre, representatives from General Secretary of Youth, the Artistic Director of Thessaloniki Concert Hall and the Artists’ Association of North Greece, the Artistic Directors of Ljubljana “MENT Festival”, Berlin “Pop-Kultur Festival” and Porto Concert Hall together with renown artists, entrepreneurs and former festival organisers.

Fully aligned with all the necessary WHO guidelines regarding mass gatherings, Music Showcase Greece 3 prioritizes the health and safety of all participants. Therefore “Sound On” project will be broadcasted online from all Music Showcase Greece’s network platforms, supported by the Ministry of Culture and Sports.

With a sincere hope that 2021 will be the year to host a big, live Festival in terms of a new normality we invite all friends and contributors to be part of this year’s forum. At the end of the day we all wish upon a better future for the art we cherish.
